I know I am a little late, but I wanted to give a quick recap of the Memphis Mission Trip we took our students on mid March.
We traveled to Memphis, TN to join Street Reach Ministries for the week. Street Reach is an awesome ministry that was created to help meet the physical and spiritual needs of the people in the rough parts of Memphis. Street Reach also has a school that is designed to bring in the most "high risk" students in the area and teach them about Jesus all the while getting a quality education.
Our team of 35 was divided into two groups for the week and assigned a Street Reach leader who showed us the ropes.
Our schedule looked pretty much the same every day. We had a devotional in the morning after breakfast and then went to our assigned area to host a Bible Club with the kids for a few hours. During Bible Club we played games, crafted, sang songs, and taught the kids about Jesus.
After Bible Club we ate lunch and headed to our community project for the afternoon. Throughout the course of the week my team went to three different community projects. The first day we went to a laundry mat and paid for laundry while engaging people in conversation. The second day we helped lead an after school care program. On our last day we had the opportunity to help plant vegetables at an urban farm that was designed to offer produce at a discounted price to the community who would not be able to afford it otherwise. At night we had a time of reflection and worship.
Below are some pictures I snapped throughout the week!
