The Birthday Boy!

Last Sunday my sweet hubby turned 24! :) We obviously needed to celebrate, so, that is what we did, all weekend long!!

Gray had been hinting around about me baking a birthday cake for him a few days leading up to his bday... I totally thought I could handle this little task. Me and Betty Crocker and her lovely box mix would do justttttt fine... so I thought... But Gray let it be known that he was indeed wanting something more than a "box" cake. He wanted a HOME MADE cake. That boy don't play.  So, on Saturday morning I set out on mission to find the best chocolate cake recipe with buttercream icing there was (per his request) and make it!! I settled with the Barefoot Contessa's cake and icing I found on this blog!

Well folks, the Barefoot Contessa didn't let me down because 3.5 hours later I was finished with the hubs 100% homemade chocolate cake! :) We ate the cake with Gray's mom and dad, sister, and her fiancé Kenny on Sunday after church. Everyone ate it and no one got sick (to my knowledge) so I guess it turned out pretty good. In fact, Gray and I had a few more servings this part week until we finished it off! We were both pretty sad to see it go!

On Sunday, We woke up extra early so I could make Gray his "birthday breakfast" and give him his gift! Later in the morning, Gray's side of the fam joined us for church and then took us out to lunch! They came over to our little home after lunch for dessert and coffee! :-) This was SUCH a treat! We had a great time celebrating Gray and getting to spend some quality time together!

On Sunday afternoon, Gray wanted to watch Harry Potter (he is trying to get me hooked on Harry... CONFESSION: so far we have watched the first 4 movies and I am still not sold!) For dinner we went to Olive Garden (another birthday boy request) and loaded up on pasta and breadsticks!! The man LOVES his carbs! ;-)

At the end of the day, Gray thanked me and said he had a great birthday. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! It brings me so much joy to show that man how much he means to me! I am thankful and so blessed to be his wife, helper, best friend, and biggest fan!
